Snowmaking operations have been making some progress despite the frankly minimal cold weather windows here in Londonderry. While our 1,500 vertical feet of skiing is strong, our base starting at 1,350' does make it a challenge if the cold weather is marginal. Just a handful of nights have reached into the low/mid-20s and only one (Wednesday night) has been for 12-hours. This has hampered our efforts to build up the deep piles needed to then push out for grooming. But, Andrew and crew are close to finishing Wand from top of Green Lift down to the headwall on Show Off, and have now extended snowmaking to midway down on that trail. To connect the rest will take only a few more 12-hour shifts. Unfortunately, the extended forecast through Thanksgiving does not hold out much hope right now for the cold temperatures needed. Forecasts can change, so we are ready-to-go anytime!
Despite being a week away, opening by Thanksgiving weekend as hoped with a groomed run down from Green Lift does not look realistic right now. Colder, more wintry conditions are on the horizon, so if not November 29th, then December 6th looks very likely for Magic's ski season to begin!

Our youth seasonal programs (Devo, Race and Freeride/All-Mountain) start after Christmas and go all season on the weekends. It's a great way for kids to not only become a fantastic skier and rider, but to make life-long friends with a true love of the sport. Grow up Magic! Save $100 by registering before 12/2!

The Tavern re-opens for the season on Friday 11/28 at 11am in conjunction with Magic Merchants for holiday shopping! If we don't get a weather pattern change to open for skiing, we will still have a celebration to kick off the season with pass/card holders and our local community at the BLT with a ceremonial toast and get together on the deck around 3:30-4pm. We will also get a bonfire going with a new Magic prayer debuting for Ullr to bless us all with a good winter. I will be there, along with our GM Paul Maitland to talk all things Magic with you. Then the Glen Rocks Band hits the BLT stage from 5-8pm (sponsored by the Sun Lodge). Saturday features more live music with David Soltz from 3-6pm (sponsored by Jamaica Cottage Shop) and both the BLT and Magic Merchants will be open Sunday at 11am as well.

As always, our dedicated team will do "whatever it takes" to make snow and get open as early as possible. Just need mother-nature to crack open the cold weather window a little more and bring us a bit of snow, too! It's coming!
